Healthy Eating for Plus-Size Women

Post by Robinson »

Healthy eating doesn't mean a smaller body, what matters most is being healthy irrespective of your size. True health means having the Energy to live fully, the strength for your daily life and peace with food choices. What you should know is that your worth isn’t measured by a scale.

3 Nutrition Myths to Forget

Here are the 3 nutrition myths to forget:

1. Plus-size bodies must lose weight to be healthy. Research has proven that health exists at every size.
2. Cut carbs/fat/sugar completely. The best way is to have balanced meals, and abstain from extreme restrictions.
3. Skip meals to ‘save’ calories. The truth is that regular meals boost our metabolism and mood.

5 Simple Eating Principles

Here are 5 simple eating principle to follow in order to stay healthy.
1. Eat Enough: Eat 3 meals minimum daily

2. Add, Don’t Subtract: Instead of “No fries” , try to add spinach to your eggs.

3. Listen to Your Body: You've got to. Pay attention to your body; eat only when hungry, and stop eating when you are 80% full.

4. Hydrate Smart: Drink water/herbal tea, possibly 2-3 litres intake each day. If plain water bores you, add lemon/cucumber.

5. Include Pleasure Foods: Cake chips, or ice cream. Or even do it with a mindful, moderate sense.

Easy Meal Ideas

Here are the easiest meals plan you can follow;

Breakfast: Greek yogurt + berries + honey

Lunch : Chicken salad wrap + apple

Dinner: Baked salmon + sweet potato + broccoli

Snack: Hummus + baby carrots

These myths hurt more than they help. I used to skip meals and cut down on carbs, which only left me exhausted and miserable. I now focus on a balanced diet.

Instead of avoiding certain food, I add a whole fruit, plenty of fiber, and protein to my diet. It energizes me to take on the day's activities.

Always be sure to eat enough vegetables and fruits, a good way to get protein if you don't want to eat meats is by eating nuts.

The “skip meals” myth used to reduce my energy and productivity to the lowest level. I do skip meals when I don't feel like eating anything. But it becomes a problem when you make it a habit to skip meals for the purpose of losing weight. Now I take two solid meals and a light snack to help my concentration level at work.

I agree with you that health exists at every size. My focus is about increasing my strength and energy not shedding some kilograms. I have added vegetables to my meals. I also try to be active.

Can't cut out everything, just have to eat right to get what you need and start using up stored fat.

I don't cut out everything.

I'm only going to live this one time. I want to live a while but I also want to be able to enjoy what I eat, as well. If that's cookies and cake around this holidays, then after the holidays I'll increase my fitness and dieting.

But at least I'm happy :)
