Walking my dog is an exercise for me. Gardening is exercise. Dancing in my kitchen while I make dinner is also exercise. It doesn't have to hurt to count.
The thing is, I'm tired of pretending that being healthy as a plus-size woman is simple. It's not. I've meal prepped until my fridge looked like a fitness arcade. I've thrown out entire kitchen cabinets worth of "bad" foods because of determination. It onlyworked temporarily.
The diet mentality is crazy. It makes you think that your worth as a person is tied to your ability to follow arbitrary food rules. It makes you afraid of hunger, afraid of satisfaction, afraid of enjoying the basic human experience.

Thank you for saying this. I feel like I’ve been overdoing it too and then I feel like a failure. I now learned that working out should be fun, not a punishment.

Healthy living is not about going to the extremes. I've now focused on what nourishes and energizes me.
