Self-Care is unapologetically prioritizing yourself above all other things. Now, for plus-size women, real self-care means that they need to reject the society’s perception that being smaller means you're better. Secondly, it means meeting your unique needs without being ashamed of anything. Lastly, it means finding joy in your body, not despite it no matter the situation.
7 Radical Self-Care Rituals
I will list 7 best self-care routine for plus size women
1. Skin Fold Care: It's important to gently clean under breasts, belly, thighs every daily. In fact, plus size women need to make it a routine. Also, apply zinc cream to those areas to prevent chafing. This gives you comfort.
2. Clothes That Feel Like Hugs: Don't go for jeans that are too tight. It's better to wear soft jersey dresses.
3. Affirmation Mirrors: It's helpful to post affirmative notes on mirrors. For instance, put notes like “My body deserves love today."
"Softness is strength." Etc.
4. Joyful Movement: Create a joyful atmosphere for yourself. You could dance alone to your favourite song, swim without covering up or even walk barefoot in grass, just to create that happy moment within you.
5. Set Body Boundaries: Practice to set boundaries by politely saying: "No comments about my body, please." Or "I’m not discussing diets." Don't entertain negativity
6. Body-Safe Spaces: Follow social media accounts that celebrate plus size women and unfollow accounts that will lower your self-esteem. That way, you are surrounding yourself with positivity.
7. Sensual Pleasure: Sensual pleasure is very important and you can practice it by using body oils for massage. This makes you feel good and confident.
Comfort-First Health Care
Practice comfort and put your health care first by finding inclusive providers who:
- Have size-friendly gowns/chairs
- Focus on health metrics, not weight
- Never suggest "just lose weight" for unrelated issues
