What are the best hiking tips for plus-size adventurers?

Post by Dorothy »

I tried hiking last week and my cheap backpack nearly broke my shoulders. 😩 I’m still in pain right now but I later upgraded to Osprex’s plus-size straps. It was indeed a game-changer!

What’s your must-have gear for trails?

I would say take stuff that isn't too tight to carry and pick something easy to travel, avoid hills and steep areas.

Start with easy trails that are short. Hike them until you're sick of them. Hike them until they become simple. Then move on the the next level and do the same. Then move on to something harder and repeat.

Start small and gradually work your way up to technical trail hiking.

Hydrate hydrate hydrate!

Like Shawn said, start with smaller trails to get used to hiking. Always have plenty of water and bring some snacks like protein bars to help give you energy.

And make sure you get a really good pair of hiking shoes with a thick sole to help keep your feet pain-free!
