It's been about 3 months since I lost my dad.
He died from an illness that antibiotics would have cured. I didn't even know he was sick until the day of his death. I tried to text him and get him to go to the doctor. He refused and died a few hours later.
I'm having a hard time not blaming myself for just going there and demanding it. I wish I had talked to him more.
I'm pretty sad. I can't get him out of my mind.
Have any of you lost a parent? How long does it take to feel normal again?
My last conversation with my dad:

Sorry to hear that, I know your pain as I've lost my mom. It's hard to get over

Oh man I'm sorry to hear that bro. I haven't lost my parents yet, but I want you to know that this wasn't your fault. I know you're kicking yourself over this, wishing you went over to his house. Unfortunately even if you went over to his house, there's no telling if he would have been willing to go with you to the hospital and you two could have had a big argument and that could have been your last moment with him.

I do want to blame myself so bad, but I know that I can't blame myself. Maybe it's a part of grief.Ravenfreak wrote: Tue Nov 18, 2025 11:53 pm Oh man I'm sorry to hear that bro.
