Is adventure the same as travel?

Post by Magdalene »

The quick answer to the question is an emphatic No, they're not the same. Travel is when people go somewhere that is totally new for relaxing or to have more experience of other people's culture. But Adventure is like a. excitement and it often comes with challenge and very unpredictability because adventure could push you to the limits.

For instance, travel is visiting Paris , seeing the Eiffel Tower, eating croissants. While adventure is hiking the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu at sunrise. So, you can see the outstanding difference.

3 Key Differences

1. Purpose
- Travel is definitely for relaxation, sightseeing and for learning new things too
- Adventure is for a challenge and for personal growth as well

2. Planning
- Travel is planned by booking for hotels, tours, restaurants.
- Adventure is planned by preparing gear, training physically, and expecting surprises.

3. Comfort Zone*m
- Whenever you travel, you stay within your comfort zone.
- Adventure will pushes you outside your comfort zone.

Can Travel Become an Adventure?

Yes, it's very possible to turn your travelling experience into an adventure. You can turn your trip into an adventure by swapping buses for bikes, probably in Amsterdam, try to eat street food in Bangkok instead of using the tourist restaurants or even take a wrong turn on purpose to explore hidden alleys in Rome.

Adventure Doesn’t Mean Dangerous!

There are different levels of adventure for beginners. For beginners it's advisable to start with Soft Adventure like engaging in easy hikes. After that, you can move to the next level of adventure which is Medium Adventure like scuba diving or mountain biking. Then, the last level is Hard Adventure. This is as adventurous as going rock climbing or wilderness backpacking. But it's very important to start from where you feel safe. It means you should pick your challenge level and start with soft adventure, and then use trusted outfitters.
