Long hiking

Post by HikerShawn »

Long hiking or trekking is when you hike/trek long distances.

Hiking the entire AT or PTC trail in America would be an example of long hiking or thru-hiking if you hike it from start to finish without taking a break (aside from some zero hiking days).

Some people even long hike across the world.

How do you all feel about this sort of thing? Could you do it? How about if you had the time and money?

I haven't done a long hike in a long while, I would love to do one again when the weather finally cools down.

I don't think I could do it but it sounds fun! If I ever could, I would definitely go during the fall. I haven't been hiking in a while, and it wasn't too big of a trail. This was early last year if I remember correctly.

Ooooh, fall would be amazing. All the changing leaf colors would be awesome to see.

That's when I like to do it the most.

The trails are clearer, bugs are gone, and you can see everything.

It's easier to hike 10+ miles that way.

And can be pretty when cooler as things come to life or start to change color for end of the season.

Well, we've had a few frosts so it's probably not as nice as it has been. :(

We even some snow the other day, very light dusting!

I think this next week it's going to get down low 20s, that will kill any remaining flowers out there.
