What are basketball areas of your nation?

In the US, it seems like Kentucky, North Carolina, Indiana, Nevada and probably a few others are known for basketball. Is basketball more popular there? Well, UK (University of Kentucky), Duke, UNC (University of North Carolina) etc. hails from these states.

Seems like everyone can put out a good player, it comes down to the team they are in for getting things done.

In my area, Southern Illinois University (Carbondale) is known for basketball.
